  • Heather Calderon
    Heather Calderon
    Visual Artist
Artist Heather Calderon Biography I am originally from Longmont, CO with strong family ties to Albuquerque, NM. I grew up with two passions, from an early age; music and art. After studying classical piano for 12 years, at age 16, I  decided to pursue art only, leaving music as a hobby. After holding various waitress jobs, at age 24, I found a job, copying another artist's work on needlepoint designs, It was through this job, I learned how to paint. I took my new skill of painting and began creating my own pieces. It was in 2006, at age 27 that skeletons began making an appearance in my work. Beginning with a small skeleton tucked in a corner of a landscape, skeletons quickly became the subject of my paintings. After creating a series of skeleton paintings in 2010, I was given the title of "Day of the Dead" artist. It is a combination of reasons, the fascination with skeletons; the earliest being a childhood experience when my face was x-rayed because of chronic sinus infections and I saw my own skull. In 2011, I relocated to South Florida with my children to join the love of my life. I currently resided in Margate, FL and I am happily married.   Artist Heather Calderon Mission Statement:   “I paint skeletons because I believe it is my calling in life.  I get endless visions of skeletons and I paint them; one by one.  I hope to capture our human experience in this work and to reveal the underlying love that connects us all.”

    Photographer; Visual Artist
This is the serendipitous journey of a female photographer unveiling beauty in all her disguises. Canning’s vision when creating an image is based on sharing our "Beautiful Whirled" as she sees it: through the prism of optimism, lit by hope, inspired by awe, and ruled by beauty. Her belief is that when we commune with beauty, we touch the Divine. Most of her fine art images have been captured in Florida. Her subjects include seascapes, landscapes, & architecture. "The Sunshine State in Black & White" is a body of work that explores a Florida not meant for postcards or tourist brochures. The work challenges the viewer to look beyond the typical depiction of blue skies and beaches to find a symphony of light, form, and shadow that is hidden in plain sight. Many of the images have been captured in Miami, Broward and Palm Beach and are places that we live and work nearby. Canning is mostly self-taught. Long exposure is her preferred technique because it provides a photographic record of something that lies somewhere beyond real life – “Photographing the fourth dimension (time) allows me to transport the observer to a world between worlds”, said Canning. She was born in Trinidad, grew up in St. Thomas, USVI and now resides in South Florida. Canning is also a full-time realtor who uses leading edge visual communications to sell properties.      TATIANA CAST Contemporary Mixed Media Artist Artwork includes paintings, collage, photography, and mixed media pieces.   ARTIST STATEMENT: “As an artist I see art as a journey, not a destination. On this journey I am constantly searching for elements to keep me connected to the essence of things beyond form. My creative process is spontaneous and in most cases, I draw my inspiration from nature. Nature is about orderly chaos, bold colors and rich textures. Transferring that energy and boldness into my pieces leads me to maximize the use of color and layers of texture that characterizes work. Since I receive so much inspiration from nature, I like to honor it and as a simple gesture of respect I prefer to use recycled elements to create textures and reclaimed wood panels as the substrate of most of my pieces.”  Tatiana Cast     ART EXHIBITIONS: 2015: “Spring”. • Cosimo Cavallaro
    Cosimo Cavallaro
    Visual Artist
BIOGRAPHY Cosimo Cavallaro was born in Montreal in 1961. The son of Italian immigrants, Cavallaro was raised both in Canada and Italy. He attended art school in various countries before setting up shop as a sculptor in Montreal in the early 1980’s . Eventually Cosimo fell into film direction when a film director friend asked him to help out on a movie set. Within days he was assisting in set design. Soon he was a full time production designer working first on features and then on TV commercials. Directing became the natural progression. As a TV commercial film director Cavallaro won numerous awards including the Director of the year in Canada and the 1990 Canadian Film Festival Juno award for best music video. Although film and video monopolized the majority of Cavallaro’s time in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, his art remained evident in all his work and foremost in his mind. In 1995 he moved to New York where he began focusing all of his time on creating art. His work speaks to a variety of audiences and expresses (in his own words) “the struggle between need and desire; the known and unknown; the warm security of the womb and the chill uncertainty of the world.” In 2011 he relocated to Los Angeles and began a new vision. Cavallaro’s mediums range from photography (Nudes, Bike seats, Blinders on Donkey, fruit, fish in bowl, ) to large sand blasted steel sculptures ( Knot series) to installations using perishables, (Chocolate Jesus, Cheese house, Cheese room, Chocolate saints, Ketchup room, Absolute pressed Ham bed, Candy chair, Twiggy In Cheese to rubber sculptures (inflatable piano, shovel,) and most recently fiberglass resin sculptures in the shape of Jelly Beans. • Jean Caze
    Jean Caze
    Composer; Musician
Jean Caze has emerged as one of today’s most beautiful new voices in jazz. Jean’s experience includes having performed with stellar legendary artists such as: Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Michael Bublé, Mariah Carey, Al Jarreau, Roy Hargrove, Arturo Sandoval and George Duke just to name a few. Growing up in Queens, NY, Haitian-American Jean Caze began playing the trumpet at the age of nine. He recalls, “The most amazing feeling I can remember in music was my first concert while I was nine years old. During the concert, each kid played a part of the melody as a solo. When I played my solo, the audience came alive.  I was shocked to discover that I had the power to connect with the crowd through the music - I felt empowered." Jean immediately developed a passion for playing the trumpet, and it was this profound passion that allowed for the duly noted recognition of Caze as a soloist and trumpet virtuoso. As a result Jean went on to be awarded scholarship after scholarship to attend some of the country's top music institutions and conservatories, including the Julliard MAP (Music Advancement Program) where he received his first formal training and the Queens College CPSM (Center for Preparatory Studies in Music) program. As his playing developed, Jean’s diverse musical abilities continued to win him numerous awards and recognition, including a free trumpet from VH1’s Save the Music program and then a chance to perform with the elite Grammy High School Jazz Band during the 2000 Grammy Awards ceremony. In his senior year, Caze made his debut on national television, performing with the legendary rock group “Chicago” live on NBC from Rockefeller Center. One of Jean's scholarships led him to the prestigious Manhattan School of Music where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance in 2004. That same year, Jean was awarded as the Winner of the 2004 National Trumpet Jazz Competition. In 2006, Jean Caze is awarded as the Winner of the International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition. In 2007 Jean continued with his music education and went on to earn his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from Florida International University (FIU). Just prior to earning his Master’s Degree from FIU Jean the Haitian-born trumpeter won second place in the prestigious 2007 Thelonius Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition. Following his Master’s Degree Jean releases his first self-produced album entitled "Miami Jazz Scene" (2007). In 2009, Jean began his long-standing position as part of the teaching faculty at the highly recognized “Litchfield Jazz Camp” in Litchfield, Connecticut. In 2010 Jean accepted a top position in Michael Bublé's touring band, performing as a featured soloist to sold-out arenas all over the world. Touring with Bublé' led to endorsement deals and in 2014, Jean officially became a Yamaha performing artist. In December of 2015, Jean released his second self-produced album, "Amédé" where he seamlessly combined his Haitian roots with his American Jazz education and upbringing. Jean has received abundant praise from critics, peers and jazz enthusiasts alike that have taken to Jean's lyrical tone and tasteful ideas. Jean Caze has been hailed a "True Improviser" and even compared to Miles Davis by fellow legendary trumpet player, composer and music educator Carl Saunders. “With a sound compared to the likes of Miles Davis, it is no wonder that Jean Caze has achieved such astounding success as a trumpet player”. New York Times writer, Nate Chinen wrote - “Strong, and unexpectedly diverse, Mr. Caze confidently evoked Miles Davis on a pensive ballad, “Old Folks,” and a brisk anthem, “My Shining Hour.” Always in demand as an educator, Jean is an enthusiastic, untiring and great supporter of music and art programs in the schools. Along with his busy performance schedule, Jean always manages to organize youth jazz bands, conduct master classes and offer one-on-one classes to students of all levels. He has led and directed students at: The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts (Miami), Young Musicians Unite – Overtown Youth Band (Miami), Litchfield Jazz Camp (Litchfield, CT), New World School of the Arts (Miami), Institut Francais d’Haiti (Port-Au-Prince, Haiti), WDNA Jazz Boot Camp (Miami) and at Florida International University (Miami). Throughout 2019 Jean Caze continued performing and touring with superstar artist Michael Buble. 2020 continues bringing exciting new engagements to Jean Caze as he writes and prepares to produce a new album for release in 2021.

Since childhood, I've served as an apprentice to my mother and aunt, both artists, art teachers, arts and culture advocates. As a teenager, I donned the mask and costume of the Lincoln Imp, giving life to the gargoyle like fundraising mascot helping raise the capital funds needed to transition the local Historical Society to a regional museum. I spent the rest of my teens and 20's learning the art and science of archaeological illustration, investigation, analysis, public education and outreach by balancing an entry level career at the Royal Ontario Museum with a fully funded academic scholarship to one of Canada's premier research institutions, York University, both in Toronto. When I wasn't at school or work, I was helping my aunt launch her career as an artist, seting up and staffing exhibition and sales booths at juried shows such as Toronto Outdoor Art and Washington Square Art in NYC. In between those responsibilities, I worked as a research assistant to Dr. Elizabeth Graham, a well known Mesoamerican archaeologist. During my tenure as an undergrad, I was also keenly aware of the social environment, having just returned to Canada after a childhood mostly spent in Broward County, Florida. There were many things happening, especially during my initial return during the summer of 1990. In Canada, that was the summer of Oka... the summer the Canadian government brought tanks and guns to the Native Canadian reserve of Akwesasne, Mohawk Territory. Soon after, the sesquicentennial of the "discovery" of the Americas began. 1992 brought a host of discussions, deliberations, workshops and yes, celebrations to the streets of Toronto. This is the year that I learned that Native People in Canada are related to me as a descendant of the Indigenous people of Mesoamerica. Up to that point, I just thought of us all as seperate. But I knew enough about geography and archaeology to know that Columbus landed in my part of the continent. That began a course of study in ethnography that resulted in my pursuit of traditional knowledge production continuing through today. In 2012, my family and I helped in the creation and launch of the world's largest travelling exhibit of Maya art and artifacts, now in it's seventh city, currently on view at the Milwaukee Public Museum. I remain... To teach and learn our stories... To move into the future as human beings... To never forget who we are...

    Florencia Clement de Grandprey
    Visual Artist
Florencia Clement de Grandprey    Cell: 954 446 4126    email: florencia34@hotmail.com Born and raised in Spain, Florencia is the daughter of an American mother and a French/Italian father. Ever since a young age, she has loved creating and making things with her hands…she painted her first oil painting at age 5 on one of her many visits to an artist family friend who lived up the hill. Her first, and practically only formal training, was in watercolor painting and a bit of charcoal drawing at age 11. After that, she took a semester of drawing and a semester of painting at university as elective classes. Apart from this very basic training, she is self taught and continually explores and learns through trial and error. Florencia has been involved in interior design for the past 14 years, and has lived in Florida for nearly as long. She combines her love of the classic masters with contemporary design flair. At the heart of her work is the desire to portray strong, confident women. Artist Statement We are made up of particles and forces - photons, leptons, quarks, gluons. Our interactions with each other and with nature give rise to feelings, expressions, visions, art. Painting for me is a meditative mediation of science and spirit, nature and nurture, play and purpose. From the bag of emotions available when I paint I try to use joy, wonder, curiosity, sarcasm. I enjoy the tension between serious & subversive, perception & deception. A monkey taking a selfie, a beluga teasing children, the sideways tilt of a dog’s head, that look the cat gives you - these evocations of the cosmic I attempt to convey in my art. We all have a point of view, mine is slightly askew. Artist’s Biography In 1992 John B Cooke IV was younger, still learning about life and living in an apartment in Richmond, Virginia. It all started with the new living room furniture (sofa and love seat) he and his partner had just bought. Once they had it in the apartment, they realized they needed a nice, large piece of artwork for over the sofa. Shopping for just the right thing became quite a task as they didn't have a lot of money, the couch had a southwestern motif in the fabric, and all the paintings they saw that they liked were extremely expensive. The ones that they could afford looked as if drunken monkeys had painted them. So after a few too many shopping trips coming home empty handed and too many weekends watching PBS, Mr. Cooke thought that he could paint at least as well as a drunken monkey, even though his last art class had been in the 8th grade, decades before. He had an idea for an abstract desert scene, so he did a quick mock up on an old Mac, bought some oil paints, a few brushes, some practice canvases and the big canvas. He practiced a couple of times and then painted the real thing. His partner Jim liked it and he liked painting. Since he had spent about $250 on painting supplies, he just kept on painting. Those first couple of years he had probably painted close to 75 canvases, mostly landscapes in the wet on wet method of painting. Some were inspired by photographs and places he had visited, others by experimentation. He looked forward to the day they would buy a house and he could paint in his backyard. Somehow life intervened and painting was put on the back burner again. While not painting he created, composed and edited DVD compilations of his vacation photos under the SeaGoat ArtWorx brand. Then two things happened to prod him back into painting. One was losing his IT job after 13 years with the same company which led to moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida; the other was losing a very close friend to pancreatic/liver cancer. The last couple of years, this friend had been prodding him to get back into painting or some other creative outlet. His friend’s last text message to him was: "Don't be afraid to go out on a limb; that's where the fruit is". So in honor of his friend and because he needed a creative outlet while continuing to seek employment, he restarted painting in 2013. Lately he is more interested in abstract expression than in mountain or desert landscapes. His current inspirations are derived from nature, experience, a skewed sense of humor, and a willingness to play, to make mistakes and to learn. He primarily uses water mixable oil paints to reduce the environmental impact of his painting. He enjoys plein aire painting as he feels painting outside frees his creative energy better. He has also begun using painting knives more to allow the paint textures and pigments themselves have more of an impact, both as he paints and in the finished products. His favorite paint brush is a #2 filbert. Rather than signing his name to his creations, he uses a modified monogram which incorporates his initials (JBCIV) and the astrological sign of Capricorn, the Sea-Goat, as that is his birth month. Actor; Filmmaker; Writer
Acting has been part of my life since I can remember.  My early years were normal and happy save for the moving from coast-to-coast every few years.  It got to the point to where I decided it best not to make many friends as I'd just be having to say goodbye to them soon.  So, mirror and tape recorder became my buddies.  I'd spend hours seeing how many different faces I could make and doing improv in front of the mirror.  The tape recorder was used for many wondrous projects - from radio plays to saving historic events to secretly taping conversations.  The latter was instrumental in hearing how people really speak in everyday situations.  Little did I know that all of this would play a role in shaping my future as an actor and voice over performer. Welcome to my world.

    Choreographer; Dancer; dance instructor
Dance is my gift and responsibility. Dance was given to me and I am destined to help change the world with it and through it. My greatest inspiration has always been from those who possess and emit the regality, integrity and hard work I have learned is essential to being an unforgettable artist. When I say “unforgettable”, I mean legendary. To me, this art is still worthy of the process and invaluable standards that slip through the cracks of social media. When I think of dance, my goal isn’t to be an extension of shifting movements and perspectives that leave this art devoid of care and heart, but to go as The Lord leads and keep aflame the audacity and courage of those whose paths I’ve divinely crossed. I am technically proficient and free to dance and teach dance. My limbs tell stories of trial and triumph. My art continues to evolve with each experience, and my perspective informs my passion almost daily.  Dance is my responsibility, my passion, my gift.
