I'm a mostly self-taught artist, residing and working in Sunrise. I am presently concentrating on larger abstract and abstract expressionist paintings featuring explorations in strong color combinations. I work in oils, acrylics and mixed media on canvas or wood panels. Originality, the consistency and texture of the paint and the balance of design are all very important to me as an artist. Once an idea comes to me, I work quickly and subconsciously using various application techniques, allowing inspiration, mood, and my fascination with color dictate the final outcome of each original work. I have extensive experience as a muralist. I've developed and executed large projects for many private and corporate clients here in the US, Canada and Germany. I also take on decorating projects through Artsy Decors and what few people are aware of...I bake desserts for several restaurants here in South Florida. My paintings are owned by collectors in the US, Canada, Peru, Italy and Germany. I'm a member of Artserve and The Broward Art Guild. I'm also a graduate of the Artist as an Entrepreneur course given by the Broward Cultural Division. I exhibit my painting at many South Florida Galleries, and had a large solo show at the Rossetti Gallery in October 2012.

lugufelo / Luis G. Fernandez, a Venezuelan artist, was born on December 18th, 1966, and has resided in Miami for the past seventeen years. From an early age, he was exposed to, and influenced by, kinetics and op art - movements that develop and grow parallel to his early formation. Inspired by his father, Rafael Fernandez Romero, a structural engineer specializing in bridges, lugufelo’s interest in construction and materials came early in his life. Together they frequently visited the construction sites of many different projects in Venezuela. lugufelo’s introduction to the art world came about as a consequence to his rebellious nature: his art professor, Jesus Soto, wanting to guide the young talent he saw in lugufelo, suggested that he spend the summer studying art. With the help of his aunt, Yuye D’Lima, classmate and also good friend of Jesus Soto, he got the opportunity to learn about visual effects and kinetic arts with the famous Venezuelan artist.

I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL where I create drawings, paintings, sculptures, and ceramics. My travels to France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Israel, India, Africa, China, Central and South America continue to give me a profound respect for ancient art and antiquity.  As a result, classical qualities and influences are a natural outgrowth in my contemporary classical organic artwork. I have been involved in the local Fort Lauderdale Art Community for over 40 years. I facilitated life drawing, painting & sculpture workshops in Fort Lauderdale for most of these years. Currently, I am dedicated to creating public sculptures of an historic significance in the Fort Lauderdale area. Additionally, I am passionate about plein air paintings in historic locations such as the Old Fort Lauderdale Village in Himmarshee & New River Court Historic District, Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, Old Floresta Historic Neighborhood in Boca Raton and Banker's Row in Delray Beach. My plein air paintings are a representation of the spirit of the actual scenes of landscapes and historical buildings in the local community.  I have studied plein air painting in Italy, France, Ecuador and the USA. “Creating works of art from life and nature is the inspiration behind capturing the historical narrative that is preserved in my plein air paintings.”
