Lara Cugno is a vibrant and talented multi-media artist and advocate in Fort Lauderdale, whose story of resilience will inspire you and encourage you to start creating. Lara is a multi-faceted creative whose work includes infusing a myriad of artistic mediums spanning from canvas to custom furniture pieces. She is the creator and founder of Sugarcoats Art Decor.

Lara truly believes in the healing power of art. She is a sexual assault survivor, and art helped her to not only talk again and process her recovery, but gave her the strength and inspiration to become an art therapist and advocate. She worked to get Marsy’s Law passed in the state of Florida, a law that ensures that victims of crime have equal, constitutional rights on the same level as those accused and convicted of crimes. Today, Lara is a certified art, music and trauma therapist/ life coach for the Yacholet-Ikann Center for Girls in Recovery from Trauma.

She’s stayed active in the artist community throughout the years with involvement as a member at Artserve, participating and winning in Art Attack’s Artbrawl competition, and being a featured live artist at MASS District Artwalk. She’s transitioned as a featured vendor/ live artist at the monthly Artwalk, to a resident artist and now sitting on the non-profit board as Secretary of MASS District.
