  • Maria Isabel Lazo
    Maria Isabel Lazo
    Visual Artist; Writer
Self-taught artist, Maria Isabel, was raised in New York City. Her special talent was noticed in her early childhood where she exhibited outstanding sensibility and imagination that reflected in her ink and pencil drawings, collages, and multiple art projects. She won the first prize in an Inter-Catholic School Competition; attesting that art was her destiny. Subsequently she majored in Architecture where she cultured Art History, Illustration, and Sculpture and studied two years of Fashion Design in the Artisanal School of Guayaquil. In 1985, she co-founded and directed Art Gallery “Gala Centro de Arte” in Ecuador, South America. Gala showcased works of international eminent visual artist, fresh emerging talents as well as her own art during fifteen years before returning to the US due to a life-threating illness of her youngest child.  Currently she oversees the ArtsPark at Young Circle Gallery in Hollywood, Florida and manages to continue conceiving her passion of painting. Her art is hanged in private collections in New York, Florida - USA, Galapagos Island and Guayaquil, Ecuador. Her paintings reveal the dazzling colors of nature’s wonders, the natural environment and the life of its creatures…… innocence, worriless, delightfulness. Her paintings portray the animal’s simple being and expose emotions felt by artist when admiring the greatness of their modest lives. Her personal encounters with the underwater world fused with her unique artistic style sets free all sea life creatures in brilliant colors and with unbelievable imagination. She uses a variety of mediums and surfaces, canvas, wood, stone, paper, tile, aluminum, textile and giclée. With a constant spirit of discovering new effects she incorporates and blends organic elements to her work (sand, coffee, nuts). It’s all about combining interior impressions with earthy given elements.  Several of her paintings are framed with natural lobster trap wood brought from beautiful Key West, Florida. Maria Isabel found in art not only the pathway to expose to the observer the intense and vibrant energy of parrots, cockatoo, birds, wild and sea life but these at the same time have been her therapist to assent the uncertain reality of her restrained personal world.

  • PASCAL LECOCQ
    PASCAL LECOCQ
    Visual Artist
I always have my head in the clouds, and painting permits me to create an imaginary universe between outer space and the depth of the oceans: a refuge to which I can escape the contemporary reality. In turn, I offer my viewers the ability to join me. I believe the traditional oil painting is the best way to share my thoughts and for the last 35 years, I have strived to bring it to perfection, as I want the viewer to focus on the subject and not the medium. I stack the layers of meaning (aesthetic, political, ecological, symbolic and allegorical) in an endless construction set (alliterations of words, shapes, numbers or letters) always using the Golden Ratio. Not to confuse the issue or by intellectual arrogance, but on the contrary, to reach a greater majority of people able to understand the message. The transposition of reality into an underwater world generates some humor, but hides more meanings. In addition, there’s my willing to share some knowledge and to build a better word. I want keen viewers to create their own story from my paintings or to seek its occult meaning. Therein, by way of an intellectual game, it’s not a direct message that I send, but a more covert or subtle one. I’m a Surrealist – a painter of imagination, but I won’t be surprised to be considered part of the Figuration Narrative. However, nobody has yet cracked my Code, which will let the viewer regard me as a Conceptual artist. In order to do that, more than just considering the influences of Salvador Dali, The Mystic Lamb by Jan Van Eyck, Vermeer, The Isle of the Dead by Böcklin, one should think about the influence of writings of Georges Perec or movies by Peter Greenaway. • Jody Leshinsky
    Jody Leshinsky
    Visual Artist
Born and raised in a seaside town 50 minutes from Manhattan, Jody Leshinsky was always surrounded by family, friends and the arts. Jody always found a need to document the events that shaped her life so that she could look back and remember. Armed with a Brownie camera and then a Kodak Instamatic camera in the 60s, she eventually graduated to a Canon AE1 in the 80s, a digital Sony in the 90s and now a Nikon D40 and D60 In 2008, Jody was coaxed into a year-long experiment by her best friend. Project 365 is a blog that challenged her into making photographs on a daily basis and selecting the Photo of the Day to upload and blog about. She continues this blog today. The end result was discovering that there is always a photograph; you just have to see life through the lens of a camera. She sees the interaction of elements from several points of view and is able to isolate and magnify their existence. Jody’s personal, artistic and professional life has converged, melding her love of visual arts, music, dance, and theater. To Jody, the right moment is always right now, so that is why her camera is always within arm’s reach in order to capture it and freeze it for now and forever.

Stephanie Leyden (Art Attack) Mass District Member Owner/Operator of gallery + artistic services (live painting, murals, commissions) Co-founder of MASS District also created MASS (Music & Arts South of Sunrise) acronym. Art Attack has been not only a home for my original artwork, but a haven for all types of local artists to come for services, exposure, ideas, and shows. "My artwork is almost always acrylic paintings on wood and canvas, although I have painted on quite a few surfaces, including anything from vinyl records, cabinet doors, and walls! My subject matter varies quite a bit, though I always have an impressionistic feel to my paintings. I work in a wide variety of color as well, from black and white to neon rainbow and everything in between. My work is not just about the color, or the surface it's painted on, it's about an incredible moment in time; a moment that happens only once, for a fleeting moment, with energy and emotion that cannot be described, only visually and artistically captured."

  • Christina Lihan
    Christina Lihan
    Visual Artist
Christina Lihan, Artist Bio Florida-based sculptor, Christina Lihan creates intricate and highly detailed pieces using paper as her medium. She hand cuts, folds, scores and carves layers and layers of all white paper. Shadow and light become characters in the pieces: whether it is light filtering through suspended compositions or lit from below to enhance shadow and form in a recent installation. Labor intensive, her process is meditative and one of discovery for herself as well as the viewer. Her work employs the language and metaphors of architecture. An aesthetic and conceptual discussion is carried on through a subtle and rigorous understanding of these elements, as well as introducing questions from a social justice perspective. She is educated with a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Architecture from Columbia University. This education, and practicing as an architect for 15 years influence her forms, composition, technique and illusion of depth. Utilizing perspective and scale, she creates a sense of place in her pieces. Her work is also influenced by living in Paris, London, San Francisco and New York City, studying the architecture and streetscapes. Lately, Ms. Lihan has an interest in highly industrialized structures. What is their influence on and manipulation of the natural landscape, the harmful effects on the environment? Ms. Lihan was recently awarded site-specific large commission sculptures for a brand new hotel in the heart of London. Solo exhibitions include the Citicorp Center in NYC, the Palm Beach Preservation Foundation in Palm Beach, FL and several locations in south Florida.
