Mold Making & Casting Workshop

MARCH 26 & 27, 2016 – ARTSBUNKER, 2-5pm

If you’ve ever wanted to create multiple copies of an item created, this 2-day workshop is for you. Learn the basics of mold making & casting from a pro.

On the 1st day, participants will learn how to take an original piece and create a silicone mold to reproduce the original object or sculpture. On day 2, every student will make a casting of their mold. Detailed explanation of the process as well as tricks of the trade will make the process easier for students as they embark on their own casts and molds. All materials are provided and each participant will walk away with their own completed castings.

INSTRUCTOR – JESSIE MELERO

Jessie Melero is a professional production artist of 30 years specializing as a sculptor, mold maker, scenic carpenter and prop artisan. He was production shop lead for Deco Productions and Prop Masters and is the founder of Phoenix Productions which opened in 2014 and is housed in ArtServe’s satellite studio – the ARTSBUNKER. His work includes major sculptures and designs for hundreds of corporations, events and non-profits including Mattel, Food Network, Celebrity Cruise Lines, Arsht Center, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Chili’s Restaurant Chain, Bongos Night Club, Tampa Stadium and Captain Morgan. Learning skills from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Jessie’s work has recently been seen in Speed Angels Magazine and on Telemundo and Univision. This year his mask and costume work won the “Best Art Installation” at the 2015 Electric Zoo Festival in New York City.
