Conscience Under Fire

Led by world renowned theater artist and director Teo Castellanos and backed by one of Miami’s most well-known Dj’s, Brimstone 127, The Combat Hippies are a group of military veteran performing artists. The group’s core members consist of Hipolito “Beardman” Arriaga, Anthony “I.E.D.” Torres, Allen “Tatsel” Minor, and Andrew “Dru Phoenix” Cuthbert
. 
The Combat Hippies were born as a result of the MDC Live Arts’ season-long veterans’ initiative in which they shared their experiences in an original spoken word piece as part of the O, Miami Poetry Festival. The piece, featuring solo and group work, and was debuted under the title “Conscience Under Fire”.
