Call to Artists & Submission of Artwork
Theme: “WHAT’S IN THE BOX”
Final Day For Submissions: Tuesday, March 2, 2021 by 6pm
The Victory Black Box Theatre (VBBT) at the L.A. Lee YMCA / Mizell Community Center in Sistrunk is calling on all Artists that can present a short performance (live or recorded) and/or artwork for presentation in the What’s In The Box series and for consideration for the 2021-2022 Victory Black Box Theatre season, which will include both live and virtual presentations.
The Victory Black Box Theatre
The VBBT will be presenting a series of virtual events to begin introducing the space to the community. In doing so, it has been determined that Creator & Artist focused programming is critical to the success of the arts and the VBBT, and as such is looking for partners to assist in the growth and development of the VBBT culture. The initial presentations will be centered around building a base of talented creators committed to the success of the VBBT arts community while integrating a multiplicity of artistic expression in the community.
What’s In The Box series
This presentation will be a series of virtual events that will highlight various components of the VBBT, from the artistry that can be expected for presentation to the deep rooted history of the Sistrunk community. These 2-hour presentations will follow a standard format opening with a live performance, followed by a combination of one-on-one interviews, panel discussions, and arts presentations, closing with a final live presentation and outro, led by the Cathleen Dean, Filmmaker, Producer, and the Director of Arts and Theatre Performance, at the VBBT. The goal of the series is to create awareness of the arts, the VBBT, and expanding the reach of art and culture through technology.
A maximum of 2 minutes for are performance-based presentations and up to six (6) jpeg images of artworks may be submitted by Florida artists via email to VBBT. Artwork and performance pieces will be selected by the Board of Advisors for the What’s In The Box presentation scheduled for March 17, 2021. Artists not initially selected will also be considered for future presentations. All selected performances will be posted to all social and digital platforms with appropriate tags and recognition. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY LIVE PERFORMANCES UNTIL COVID PROTOCOLS ALLOW. There will be a combination of both live and pre-recorded performances, which will be determined at the discretion of the Board of Advisors. After the Board chooses the Artists, VBBT will notify all artists and provide artist release forms to be submitted electronically before the exhibition of any performance or artwork.
