One hundred years after its construction, the preserved Sample-McDougald House is an important part of Pompano Beach’s social, cultural and civic life.  It connects current residents and visitors with our region’s fascinating heritage.

  • World AIDS Museum
    World AIDS Museum
    Gallery/Museum
The World AIDS Museum and Educational Center was founded in 2011 from an idea that grew out of the Fort Lauderdale-based group, Pozitive Attitudes, a topic driven support group for HIV positive individuals. Steve Stagon, the facilitator and Museum Founder, created and collected historical HIV / AIDS exhibits for the support group. Over time, his collection was displayed at local HIV / AIDS service organizations and at local schools. Recognizing the need to provide a permanent space for exhibits that preserve the history of HIV / AIDS, the idea of a museum was sparked. In 2013, due to the dedication of the Museum’s founders and in recognition of their efforts to preserve the history of HIV / AIDS, the trustees of the John C. Graves Fund at the Community Foundation of Broward provided significant support for the Museum to accomplish the following: • Lease a space to house the Museum’s programs, exhibits and administrative offices. • Build fundraising capacity and support through outreach efforts to community leaders • Design and build the Museum’s permanent exhibit, the Chronology of AIDS
