The Broward Art Guild unleashes an army of artists on Fort Lauderdale's Riverwalk, charged with the mission to create original artworks witnessed by the public, through a live, timed art competition and exhibit. This beautiful outdoor event is open to amateur and professional artists of all ages. It will take place on Sunday March 29th, 2015 at the Riverwalk area in Downtown Fort Lauderdale between SE 1st Avenue and SW 5th Avenue, South of SW 2nd street up to the New River. The starting bell for artists will fire at Noon and the live art event will finish at 3:00pm. During the 3-hour window the public will have the opportunity to witness the process of art creation from the ground up, while interacting directly with the artists.
For participants, check-in will begin at 11:00am at Esplanade Park Pavilion. Artists will have from Noon – 3:00pm to create their art. They will then have one hour to frame & wire the work at the Pavilion to prepare it for an exhibit of all created works.
The Quick Draw 2015 Exhibit will be on display from April 1st through May 1st, 2015 at Limelight CRA Business Resource Center, located at 50 NE 1st Street Pompano Beach, FL 33060, where the works will be judged by Peter Meyerhoefer, past President of ArtsUnited and former owner of Meyerhoefer Gallery in Lake Worth, Florida. Cash awards for first, second and third place will be granted in both amateur and competitive categories, ranging from $25 to $100. A single Grand Prize Award of a solo one-week exhibit at the Broward Art Guild Gallery in 2016 will also be granted (valued at $250). All works will be available for purchase via silent auction, which will close at a public reception on Wednesday April 29th from 5:30 – 8:00pm.
