Students in grades 1-12 are invited to compete for scholarships to attend the Summer Creative Art Academy.
Students will have up to three hours to create one observational drawing to be considered for a scholarship. New this year: Middle school and high school students will sketch dancers from the renowned Miami City Ballet who will serve as models for the artists’. Students will be notified within three weeks after the competition of the scholarship results for both merit and need-based opportunities. To apply for a need-based scholarship, students must bring proof of eligibility for the free or reduced meal program. Private school students may apply with a signed letter from the school’s administration stating need.
The Creative Summer Art Academy offers a range of exciting studio art programs. Under the guidance of caring professional art instructors, students are immersed in creative projects that stimulate their creativity and introduce new skills and techniques.
Elementary school students are introduced to a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, ceramics and printmaking. Middle school and high school students are invited to choose from a variety of art-intensive subjects including drawing, painting, character design, ceramics, digital arts, photography, musical theater and costume design.
Creative Summer Art Academy offers five, two-week sessions June 8 through August 14, 2015. Sessions run Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm (before and after-care is available). Tuition for each two-week session is $450.
