Ignite Broward Festival

Follow the light to IGNITE, Broward’s new family-friendly immersive art experience showcasing exciting interactive light and video installations by leading contemporary artists and designers.

Downtown Fort Lauderdale will come alive nightly from 6 – 10 pm with spectacular outdoor digital and light-based art at the Museum of Discovery & Science (401 SW 2 St.) and Esplanade Park (400 SW 2 St.). 

Daily from 10 am – 8 pm, captivating indoor video, light and design exhibitions will be on display at MAD Arts in Dania Beach (481 S. Federal Highway).

Admission is free to the public.

IGNITE Broward builds on the Cultural Division’s Light the Night’ festival, which took place in March 2021. Now, with a new name, expanded roster of artists and mediums, and new locations, IGNITE Broward is sure to become a must-see annual event.

IGNITE Broward is presented by Broward Cultural Division and is produced by the creative solutions firm, MAD. It incorporates innovative technology to create new site-specific artworks by international and local artists. Additional support comes from Riverwalk Trust, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, Museum of Discovery & Science and the City of Fort Lauderdale.

KICKOFF event: Everyone is invited to attend the IGNITE Broward kickoff in Esplanade Park on Wednesday, January 26, at 5:30 pm. The event will feature food trucks and music, Broward County Mayor Michael Udine will activate the art at 6 pm.

A series of talks exploring the intersection of technology and art will also take place during the event’s five-day run, which coincides with Fort Lauderdale Art & Design Week.

  • Cocoons by Glowing Bulbs will be activated with sound for guests in the trees of Esplanade Park.


  • In March 2021 Broward Cultural Division presented Light the Night, a 3D video art installation in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The first activation of its kind in Broward County, Light the Night incorporated innovative 3D projection mapping technology in nightly activations from March 1-7, 2021.
