Art and Chat with Niki Lopez

Niki Lopez is a Queer, Afro-Latina – interdisciplinary artist, curator, activist and graphic designer whose
award-winning work has traveled as far as New York, California and New Orleans; and who has worked with
such luminaries as CCH Pounder.
Lopez is also the founder of “What’s Your Elephant,” a movement that creates a safe space for people to use
expressive arts. It includes visual and performing arts, creative community building, hands-on projects,
workshops and events. Through the What’s Your Elephant program, she uses her art and her past trauma to
engage with the communities and inspires others to address their heavy topics through the arts. She was
featured on the People Magazine Investigates: Cults series on the Investigation Discovery channel.
She is a core team member, pre-visualization artist and executive producer of the 1310 Bandits, an
award-winning women-lead team of visionary filmmakers creating stories that advocate consciousness,
diversity and social responsibility.
