South Side School was built in 1922 as one of the first elementary schools in Broward County and served the community until 1990. In 2004 the nonprofit organization ‘Friends of South Side’ was created to give a voice to those in the Fort Lauderdale community dedicated to restore this historic site and transform it into a Cultural Arts Center.
 
Presently the entire 2nd floor of the building is being utilized by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Fort Lauderdale. They are also
