Arts Summer Camp

Presented by Coral Springs Museum of Art at Coral Springs Museum of Art

The museum is back this summer with new exciting camp programing for artists ages 5-17!  Camps are centered on creative learning, and exploration in the arts. Now offering limited enrollment in large studio spaces to maximize your child’s camp experience. All camp supplies are included.

Cultural Camp

2-Week Camp Sessions (Ages 5-12)    9:00am-4:00pm

Get your passports ready! Explore different cultures and countries every two weeks. Throughout the day campers rotate to three studios where they can use different mediums to complete a variety of creative projects. Campers must bring a bagged lunch that does not require refrigeration and bottled water.

2-week session

Fee: $450 Member    I   $500 Non-Member

Session Dates & Themes

Session A: June 14- June 25   

Native American Exploration: Can you believe there are over 500 Native American tribes in the United States? Join us on a journey of discovery and become inspired by Native American art!

 

Session B: June 28- July 9   

Captivating Colombia: Colombia is known as the gateway to South America! Learn about Colombia’s colorful art and magnificent culture while exploring their traditions.

Session C: July 12- July 23  

Adventures in Africa: Did you know that some of the oldest art and artifacts are found in Africa? Join us on an African adventure! Learn about the customs and the rich and diverse culture.

 

Session D: July 26 – August 6  

Incredible Islands: Hey MON’ join us on island time as we explore Caribbean islands like Cuba, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands and more!

 

Mini Camp

1-Week Camp Session (Ages 5-12)      9:00am-4:00pm

This flexible art for art’s sake option allows campers to explore innovative and exciting ways of creating! Each day campers will work on different works of art in an environment of art exploration. Parents may sign their child up for the whole week or for a full day. Campers must bring a bagged lunch that does not require refrigeration and bottled water.

Teen Art Studio

2-Week Camp Sessions (Ages 13-17)

These immersive studio classes are intended for aspiring artists and designers ages 13-17. Learn from teaching artists who will share their artistic skills and experiences first-hand. Explore new art processes to further develop as an artist. Sessions are held for 2 weeks with morning and afternoon class options.  Please bring snacks and bottled water daily.

Session Dates & Themes

Session A: June 14- June 25        1:00pm -4:00pm

Printmaking- This class focuses on the fundamentals of printmaking. With guidance, you will learn to experiment with various techniques and practices of printmaking. Develop your own style and designs from start to finish.

Session B: June 28- July 9             9:00am-12:00pm

Comic Book Design: Create drawings of superheroes and characters and learn tricks in storyboarding, inking, lettering, and coloring. A comic book artist will guide students on how to evolve their sketches and narratives into a creative comic book story. A lively discussion of comic book history, characters, fandom, and trivia adds to the fun.

Session C: July 12- July 23             9:00am-12:00pm

Portfolio Development: Want to take you portfolio to the next level? Unleash your creative side in this preparatory class geared towards advancing your portfolio. Students will participate in group critiques and enhance their body of work for college admission.

Session D: July 26 – August 6        1:00pm -4:00pm

Drawing & Illustration: Aspiring illustrators will be introduced to the tricks and trades behind creating successful illustrations and drawings. Explore various mediums and techniques.

Session E: August 9 - August 13    9:00am-12:00pm

Painting: Learn about creative advanced concepts of painting. Practice traditional and experimental painting methods while using a variety of mediums and materials.

 

 

Evening Teen Studio Dates:

Ceramics: Get hands on with clay in the ceramics studio! These classes introduce a combination of elaborate techniques in hand building, wheel throwing, and glazing processes. It is highly recommended that students enroll in hand building before taking wheel throwing.

Getting to the Coral Springs Museum of Art:

The museum is housed inside the Center for the Arts at 2855A Coral Springs Drive at the corner of NW 29th Street and Coral Springs Drive.
On-site parking is available, as well as handicap parking.

Drop Off & Pick-Up

Drop Off: 9:00am        Pick Up: 4:00pm

Drop off is between 8:45am-9:00am

Campers must be walked inside at drop off and pick up times.
An adult must sign in the child at the museum’s front desk every day.
Once signed in the camper will have their temperature taken and go to their assigned classroom.
All campers MUST be signed out by an approved adult who is listed as an authorized pick-up person.
Identification must be provided when picking children up.
Late Pick Up: After 4:15, a late pick up fee will be enforced at $1 a minute.

 

Camp Add-Ons                                                                                                                                                                     Do you need extra care for your child during before and after camp hours? We have you covered! For an additional fee, you can enroll your child in extended care options which include Before Camp Care and After Camp Care.

Early Drop Off: 8:00am – 9:00am $50/week

After-Camp Art Adventure: 4:00pm-5:30pm $100/week

This engaging aftercare program introduces campers to concepts of exploration of the art world. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in interactive art making activities and exciting pop up events.

 

Lunches  I  Snacks

Campers are required to bring a bagged lunch and a bottle of water with them daily.
Those enrolled in a teen workshops should bring water and snacks.
Please note that refrigeration and heating of food is not available, and we are a peanut free camp.

 

Health & Safety:

No one should enter the building if they are sick, have a fever, or if they have been exposed to others with symptoms of COVID-19.
All are required to wear masks and social distancing of six feet will be practiced by museum staff and campers.
Parents must list their child’s allergies, required accommodations, and medical information upon registration.

Payment

Camp payment for classes is easily accessible online through the museum’s website at Coralspringsmueum.org.
You may also pay in-person at the museum by credit or cash.
The museum no longer accepts payments over the phone.
You must pay at least 3 days before the class’s start date to secure your registration for camp. We can’t guarantee that a seat availability if you wait to register on the start of class.

 

Exhibit Fridays

On the last Friday of each session, family and friends are invited to come visit the studio and see the artwork that campers have been busy creating.
Artwork will be showcased 30 minutes before the end of class.

 

Registration & Refund Policy

A copy of the policy is provided upon registration for camp in a printed or emailed receipt.
