Third Avenue Art District

Third Avenue Art District

On the northern edge of a rapidly expanding downtown, a group of professional artists have persistently focused their efforts for 10 years on creating a visual arts district in Fort Lauderdale. The Third Avenue Art District has been nurtured by these eight artists who have their studios just north of Broward Boulevard on or surrounding Third Avenue. In the professional world, they are national and international award winning talents visible in museum and public and private collections.

The area is now being developed as the underlying Flagler Village, a live/work environment of art and technology. As in other locales, the artists seem to build the foundation for an enticing community. The studios will now be more visible within this area of rapid growth. With the Museum of Art only blocks away, the artists hope to make art a part of life, encouraging one to explore and engage in the world.

The group flourishes in the urban setting and by being around other creative people. The artists provide private and public tours of their studios, for both adults and children and have been generous in sharing their spaces for several fundraising events. The annual ArtWalk, lures the community to their studios to share their work, their workspaces and engage the viewer in the way they create, art in general, and the challenges they face in today’s society.
