Royal Palm Visitor Center

Royal Palm Visitor Center

The Royal Palm Visitor Center is considered a wilderness information center. The center is located about four miles west of the main entrance to Everglades National Park. Colorful and informative books intrigue young and old alike. Wide selections of postcards feature the landscape, wildlife and birdlife of the Everglades. The center also sells limited travel items including film and bug spray. Vending machines dispense snack and soft drinks.

In addition, the center features daily ranger-led walks to find out why the Anhinga Amble Trail is an attraction to wildlife; anhingas, alligators and Florida gar can all be seen along this trail. A shorter excursion is Glades Glimpses, where a ranger introduces you to the subtropics, alligators and other Everglades tidbits. Several other trailheads are located outside the center. This is an excellent place to view alligators on nearby boardwalks.
