The Hollywood Women’s Club is a social club in the City of Hollywood. In addition to cultural and social meetings, the Club during its existence has raised funds for charitable projects and participated in civic affairs. During the early years the club was instrumental in starting a public library for the city. Of the 250 books collected in 1926, half of the children’s books were donated to Hollywood Central School for its first library. The adult books were given to the Hollywood Library Board becoming the nucleus of the present public library. The Women’s Club was also responsible for acquiring the first telephone service in Hollywood.
