Couch surfing takes on a whole new meaning at Fort Lauderdale’s inaugural Chillounge night – set for December 4th, starting 6 p.m. at Huizenga Plaza. Long a signature event in Tampa and St. Pete, Chillounge combines the cozy intimacy of a cocktail lounge with stadium-size performances – think aerialists spinning above you while you’re sprawled on a luxe daybed drinking Mai Tais.

Event founder Rainer Scheer finally decided to bring the event to Fort Lauderdale, after falling in love with Huizenga Plaza.
“It’s such a nice, intimate atmosphere,” says Scheer. “With the trees all around you. You can be part of something big, while having a private space with friends.”

His winning formula seems to be adapting well in Fort Lauderdale, where local acts join national performers. The line-up includes the ethereal stylings of AeroSphere from “America Got Talent,” where acrobats twirl in mid-air suspended by helium balloons. Phoebe Vecchioni brings her legion of legendary Samba dancers, while SoFlo’s Karina Iglesias jams with her band, The Nu-Thang. A fashion show, pyrotechnics and a daybed parade of models also join the festivities. And all can be enjoyed from the Chillounge’s now iconic, crisp white lounge furniture.
