This Spring, Broward Cultural Division will launch a projection mapping project that will display artwork created by South Florida artists on three buildings in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Four local artists, Agustina Woodgate, Jen Clay, Edison Peñafiel and Monica Lopez de Victoria, will have their innovative projection mapping designs projected at night on building facades in downtown Fort Lauderdale in March 2021.
Projection mapping, also known as video mapping, is a technology that uses a physical space or object as a surface for a projection rather than a conventional screen. The pieces produced are then masked to a specific surface, a process that gives the projection architectural dimensionality. This art initiative is presented by Broward Cultural Division and executed by MAD and curator Sofia Bastidas Vivar.
The innovative displays will be projected following sunset onto the facades of NSU Art Museum, Broward County Government Center and Society Las Olas.
