This show centers on Christina’s reflections on her own physical and psychological autonomy as a black female over time. She invites guests to navigate her growth through internal dilemmas and de/construction of her identity in her semi-autobiographical exploration. Drawing on her fondness for the expressionist and fauvism movements, she masterfully layers colors, textures, and mediums to replicate the shadowing depths of her skin’s undertones. For Nicola, I Want to Be Wonderful is a declaration of intent: not simply to be in existence, but to claim her existence.

To add to all of the excitement Christina will also participate in a live Artist talk with Moderator Mellissa Hunter Davis from Sugarcane Magazine on November 10th from 6:00-8:00pm.
