Born nearly 200 years apart, Johann Sebastian Bach and Johannes Brahms shared a passion that will be celebrated in this dynamic concert. Paired with works by these two titans of European classical music will be pieces composed and arranged by Harry T. Burleigh. One of the most influential Black American composers of the 20th century, Burleigh was instrumental in developing a characteristically American sound by arranging spirituals and other traditional Black music forms with incomparable beauty and virtuosity.
