Saxophonist Ed Calle is known for his extraordinary musical ability. His distinctive playing style has been heard on hundreds of recordings both as a sideman and soloist. In this outstanding concert, he will perform songs from his acclaimed CD Mamblue accompanied by a Big Band orchestra.

ABOUT ED CALLE
Latin Grammy Award Winner for Best Instrumental Album and five-time Grammy nominee, Dr. Ed Calle is a renowned musician, composer, orchestrator, scholar, professor, and leader known for his extraordinary ability to sight-read, interpret, and perform virtually any musical style. Throughout his legendary career, Calle has become one of the most recorded saxophonists in history appearing on more than 1,200 albums, almost 9,000 singles, and countless television and movie soundtracks with artists ranging from Frank Sinatra and Celia Cruz to Sylvester Stallone and Andy Garcia. Throughout the globe, his peers and colleagues often laud his versatility. One of his most cherished honors, Calle performed at the 2005 Latin Grammy Awards broadcast as a legend of Latin Jazz alongside Israel "Cachao" Lopez, Arturo Sandoval, Bebo Valdes, Generoso Jiménez, and a host of other legendary Latin jazz masters.
Ed Calle is a nominee for the 2018 Florida Music Hall of Fame along with music royalty including Emilio Estefan, Creed, "Soulman" Sam Moore, Jimmy Buffet, Barry Gibb, Jaco Pastorious, Peter Graves, and Dana Paul. Besides being an internationally acclaimed jazz performer and prolific composer and arranger, Dr. Calle is in great demand as a jazz clinician and enjoys working with students. In addition to his full-time Professor of Music Business and Production duties at Miami Dade College, Calle conducts regular visits to South Florida public, private, and charter K-12 schools and has served as a guest artist and clinician in Venezuela, Ecuador, Guatemala, Italy, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and throughout the United States.

Please enter the John Knox Village campus from the Main Gate on SW 3rd Avenue (directions are below).
DIRECTIONS TO JKV MAIN GATE
400 SW 3rd Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33060
Take I-95 to Exit 36 - Atlantic Blvd. When you exit, head east on Atlantic Blvd. to Dixie Highway. Turn right (south) at Dixie Highway and get into your right-hand lane. At SW 3rd Street, turn right (west) and get into your left-hand lane. When you see the Guard Gate, turn left.
CULTURAL ARTS CENTER
Once you pass through the main guard gate, follow the road (don’t drive faster than 14 MPH!!) and go around the traffic circle and then at the dead end, make a right. Go past the construction on your left and then the Pavilion building will be on your left, just west of the construction.
The Guard will hand you one envelope for each patron in the vehicle. Please open the envelope. A wristband in the envelope will serve as your ticket to enter the Cultural Arts Center.
PARKING
Parking is located just west of the Cultural Arts Center which is the building next to the construction site.
