THE MASTER CHORALE OF SOUTH FLORIDA IS HOSTING AUDITIONS FOR ITS 2022-23 SEASON!

2022-2023 PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS:
This Season is Master Chorale’s 20th Anniversary, which we’ll celebrate with a variety of iconic classical masterworks and meaningful community events, including:
September 18: Codebreaker, The Story of Alan Turing
October 21 & 23: Bach & Brahms (Lobet den Herrn, Jesu meine Freude, Schicksalslied, Nänie)
December 16 & 18: Comfort & Joy (Holiday Concert)
March 30 & April 1-2: Verdi Requiem
May 19 & 21: Light in the Shadows: Concert for a Cause in Support of the Alzheimer's Association
Individuals interested in becoming a member of the Master Chorale must successfully pass the audition process to participate in MCSF rehearsals and performances. Please fill-out the Audition Registration form on our website, and a MCSF staff member will be in touch to schedule your audition. Auditions are scheduled in 10-minute increments, and will be held on August 7-9 & 13-14. If an interested singer is unavailable on these days, an alternative time can be scheduled. REGISTRATION ON OUR WEBSITE IS REQUIRED.
Here are the audition requirements:
Prepared Song

This may be an art song, aria, musical theatre piece, patriotic song, hymn melody, excerpt from choral work, etc… (memorization is not required)

An accompanist will be provided – please bring sheet music.

Sight-Singing

You will be asked to perform a short melody at sight. This can be performed on solfege, numbers, or any neutral syllable.

Tonal Memory

You will hear a sequence of pitches played on the piano and be asked to repeat them on a neutral syllable.

2022-23 MCSF SINGER INFORMATION:
The Master Chorale of South Florida is a highly select, auditioned ensemble of 120 singers from Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties. MCSF members rehearse weekly on Monday evenings from 7:30pm-10:00pm in Ft. Lauderdale and present performances of choral-orchestral masterworks, as well as pops concert series.
All MCSF singers are required to pay dues ($200 per year / $100 per term), purchase their music, and purchase a concert folder and concert attire (costs vary). A scholarship process is available upon request for singers who have successfully completed the audition process and face difficulties meeting these financial requirements. Students who are registered for classes during the 2021-2022 academic year, and who have passed the audition process, qualify for a dues scholarship but are responsible for purchasing music, concert attire, and concert folder.
