"And The Word Was God" solo exhibition

Presented by St Thomas University Rev. Jorge A. Sardiñas Gallery at St Thomas University Rev. Jorge A. Sardiñas Gallery

Guest Curator Dainy Tapia presents And the Word Was God, a solo exhibition of paintings by South Florida artist Daniel Marosi. The free exhibition launched June 2, 2022 and will be open to the public visiting the Rev. Jorge A. Sardiñas Gallery, located in the main library of St. Thomas University, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., until Sept. 16, 2022.
The exhibition is comprised of text-based paintings, created from ancient scripture, advertising, sermons, and popular music that artist Daniel Marosi collected during the pandemic. Investigating their implicit authority, Marosi paints short phrases in multiple layers, allowing them to become gestural manifestations of phenomena existing beyond logic. The selection of canvas and works on paper trace the origins of Marosi’s observations of sacred texts and the contemporary relevance of signs signifying nothing.

Dainy Tapia is a cultural practitioner based in Miami.
