Local model train club has displayed various model trains layouts and running trains at the Plantation Historical Museum.
The Florida Citrus Model Train Society has displayed their popular train layouts at the Plantation Historical Museum. The exhibit features handmade modules of the smallest to largest scale trains. Every day a new train is running for the enjoyment of visitors such as the Thomas the Tank engine, the Tri-Rail passenger train, the Hogwarts Express and the vintage blue Santa Fe Grey Goose which blows perfect smoke rings.
The Museum also has various displays about who worked on and built the railroads, postal railway office, Victorian train travel etiquette and train robberies. Kids can participate in hands-on activities such as Do You Know the Parts of the Train? match game or the Could You be A Postal Worker on a Train? game. There's an area for kids to color train pictures and a small gift shop featuring inexpensive train items.
