The Girl Choir of South Florida presents Becoming & Belonging - an exploration of what it means to feel at home both within our community and within ourselves.
The journey of growing into who we are is rife with challenges and unexpected changes. Sometimes we choose to 'Run Away' to "find our own story" as in Stuart Chapman Hill's piece. At other times leaving is one's only option, as depicted in Ivo Antognini's 'La Mia Stella' and André J. Thomas's arrangement of the traditional spiritual 'The Drinking Gourd.'
Our additional musical selections span a wide array of genres and styles from the classical music of Béla Bartók to Broadway showstoppers from Little Women and Dear Evan Hansen.
We've all known the feeling of not fitting in; of worrying we don't belong. Becoming & Belonging is a hopeful homage to the selfless act of coming together in welcoming love and support.
