The 13th Annual Fort Lauderdale edition of OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival will launch Thursday, October 14th at 7pm with an Opening Night celebration at the Museum of Discovery & Science. Kicking it off with... Firebird, a touching and romantic story about two Soviet Air Force pilots who navigate the precarious line between friendship and a forbidden love. It will screen in the museum’s IMAX theatre, the biggest indoor screen in South Florida.
Firebird’s director, Peeter Rebane, and lead actor Tom Prior will be in attendance to present their film, followed by a Q&A.
Join us for the after party held in the museum’s Aviation Exhibit after the film. Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis, celebrating his birthday that night, will be on hand to accept OUTshine’s Angel Award. The award is given to an individual that’s shown unwavering support of the film festival and the LGBTQ+ community. Past recipients have been Scott Bennett, George Zuber and Carol Coombes.
At the reception, patrons will enjoy the interactive exhibits as well as an open bar, food, music, and an opportunity to mingle with the filmmakers and stars in attendance.
