Presented by The Puppet Guild of South Florida, Inc at Broward Center for the Performing Arts

In our partnership with the Puppet Guild of South Florida and Florida day of the Dead and thanks to the Broward cultural division, for our 11th year, we present our free Skeleton Puppet Workshop! This year (as with everything) will be different.
You and your family can join us at the beautiful New River Room at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and create your own foot tall rod puppet and design to prepare you on how to build a giant puppet for next year’s skeleton processional. This Fun and Free workshop is taught by puppet arts professionals Ronni Gerstel, David Goboff, and from the National Broadway Tour of “The Lion King” Jim Hammond.
We will guide you through our last 12 years of the Florida Day of the Dead and then adults and kids will be able to work hands-on to create their own puppet with all supplies provided for those who attend in person.
This workshop is recommended for ages 7 and up but for families who have younger children we will have craft activities at your socially distanced tables specifically for them.
So here are the COVID-19 details: Masks are required for everyone in the building at all times.  We are only allowing approximately 10 families/pods/educational units to join the workshop in person - a maximum of 30 people in total. Each pod will have its own table all of its own supplies provided and will be socially distanced for the entire 90 minutes. This is based on a first come first serve with a maximum of six people at your table. Tables will be over 6 feet apart from each other. To confirm your pod’s table please text your email to 954-560-1028 and let us know how many people are in your party. We will send you confirmation details. Once we are sold out we will allow “standby” options in case any of the groups do not show up.
For those who do not make the sign-up in person, we will be hosting a virtual version. If you want to participate virtually please text your email address to 9545601028 and we will email you the details of the link, supplies you need to pick up, and our design so you and your family can work create your puppet at home.
Special thanks to the Broward Cultural Council, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Puppet Network, and the Puppet Guild of South Florida.
Funding for this Project is Provided in part by the Broward County Board of Commissioners as Recommended by the Broward Cultural Council.
