A beloved staple in the operatic repertoire, Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto is a timeless story of betrayal, dashed dreams, and mistaken identity.
One of the most exciting and gritty operas, Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto is a timeless story of betrayal, dashed dreams, and mistaken identity, worthy of the best cinematic thriller. Rigoletto is not for the faint-hearted. The censors of the time had real issues with Rigoletto’s content and it is not hard to see why! Set in the grubby world of the Duke of Mantua, a man with few morals and a great deal of power, the opera exposes the depths of nastiness and the bad guy doesn't get a punishment. There is no avoiding the opera’s grim finale; horrifically sad with limited redemption.
Sung in Italian with English and Spanish projected translations.
