The Juneteenth Experience

The Juneteenth Experience

Presented by Hued Songs at North Beach Bandshell

Juneteenth, a blend of the words "June" and "nineteenth," celebrates the end of enslavement in America, when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure all enslaved people be freed. Also known as America's second Independence Day, Emancipation Day, Juneteenth Independence Day, and Black Independence Day, Juneteenth honors enslaved people, African American heritage, and the many contributions that Black people have made to the United States. It is a day of freedom, of liberation, and of jubilation.

On June 19th, 2021, Hued Songs and Rhythm Foundation will present will a celebration of black joy, black arts, and black community. It will begin with a series of community workshops and conversations and conclude with a multidisciplinary performance of song, dance, spoken word, and film, along with a pre-concert showing of original short films on Black identity.

Join us at 6PM for a showing of three original, short films produced by members of the Juneteenth creative team, followed by a 7PM performance.

This event is free to attend and will be offered in person or via Live Stream. For more information or to reserve your space, visit www.juneteenth.miami.

About The Organization
Hued Songs celebrates black culture through artistic experiences that elevate black stories & black voices. The work we do is built on three pillars. 1) We believe that artists of color deserve a platform on which they can share their truths, be seen, heard, and paid. 2) We believe that the arts are a right and not a privilege and we want that for every member of our community, which is why all Hued Songs performances are offered at little to no cost. 3) We believe in bringing communities together through artistic experiences that reflect the diversity of Black voices.
