Celebrate Mother’s Day with a tour of our current exhibition Accumulate, Classify, Preserve, Display: Roberto Obregón Archive from the Carolina and Fernando Eseverri Collection and reflect while creating art on the meanings of the rose.
For thirty years, Obregón produced more than a thousand works related to the rose, but he dismantled its kitsch aesthetic and introduced a pseudo-scientific approach to the flower.
Post-tour, Frost Art FIU Educators will show you how to create your own interpretation of this popular Mother's Day flora with watercolors and paper. Workshop materials can be picked up at the museum or mailed to participants. Email usatmmachado@fiu.edu to request your art kit today!
