Live Talk with Artist Marilyn Johansen in support of Coral Springs Museum of Art’s exhibit “1oo Faces of War”.
Marilyn Johansen is proud to present a series of art work titled Soldier Stories. She honors our US Military through time and events based on her strong connections of the past. Her father was a career military Air Force fighter pilot who flew in WWII, Korea, the Cold War and Vietnam. She is from “the world” as she lived from Brussels, Belgium to Okinawa to Georgia, Nevada, Colorado, Texas and Florida following her father’s assignments.
Her husband was a Marine in Vietnam and her nephew did a tour of duty in Afghanistan and she has cousins currently serving in the military. Marilyn recently completed a painting of her Grandfather in The Great War (WWI). Her Father was a POW in WWII and she has paintings telling some of these POW stories. These events are the paintings in her series to date. The series will continue to grow as she reaches out to family and friends who wish to honor their family members and military service.
