Girl Choir Winter's Wind Concert

Presented by The Girl Choir of South Florida at Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center

In the warm, tropical climate of South Florida we are almost always safe from the biting, icy wind that whips through Russian forests, chills the moors of the British Isle, and leaves us longing for the comfort of home and the warmth of the holiday season.

This Friday, December 13, all ensembles of the Girl Choir of South Florida will explore the myriad ways that composers and poets describe the “Winter’s Wind,” centering on Shakespeare’s depiction of winter in his famous song “Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind” as we perform two compositions with this same text. Together, we find that this frosty wind brings songs of “Angels We Have Heard on High,” the bare “Tundra” of Norway, and even illness in the punny “Cold and Fugue Season” based on Bach’s “Fugue in G Minor.”
