Come to the Puppet Guild of South Florida’s April meeting for a fun workshop in making something toy-like with a crank that turns, and in turn, moves something else.
The theme of the April workshop is to make something that moves!
Join the Puppet Guild of South Florida and make cardboard ‘automata’ toys that incorporate cranks and cams with the aim of making something that moves!
Automata 101 takes simple materials like cardboard and wood skewers to construct your own first automata. You will also be using equally simple tools like scissors and (hot) glue.
Follow along with Joy Levy as she deconstructs, explains, and guides you through the construction of your very own, guaranteed useless thing with a crank. It will amaze your friends! They’ll say “Did you make that yourself? You are a genius!”, when they see your what’s-it in action. Everyone will want one and you can then show them how they can make their own examples of mechanical automaton.
Puppet Guild of South Florida meetings are open to all at no cost.
While we will be providing the class and materials, a $5 donation is requested to help cover our costs.
