Latino Americans: 500 Years of History Celebration Photography Challenge!
Show your Latino pride by entering your photograph in our contest celebrating the Latino Americans: 500 Years of History program series. Photographs should illustrate the program's themes of Latino history and culture, with suggested subjects of Latino dance, music, clothing, food, families, and festivals. Entrants will be judged on the expression of cultural themes, with minimal consideration of photographic quality. Selected photos will be exhibited at the Latino American program series finale on Saturday, October 24, at Main Library. Twenty challenge winners will have their photographs framed and exhibited in branch libraries, and receive a winner's certificate. The top two entrants (one youth, one adult) will receive a framed copy of their photo with winning ribbon.
Photographs may be submitted via email to tzimmerm@Broward.org as digital images or in print, in person at any library information desk. All entries must be accompanied by an official entry form application, available online or at any Broward County Library information desk. Deadline for submission is Thursday, October 1, 5 PM.
Program partner WPBT2 will air the six-part “Latino Americans: The 500-Year Legacy That Shaped a Nation” documentary on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, September 28-30 at 11 p.m. and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, October 5 – 7 at 11 p.m. in support of the Latino Americans: 500 Years of History
