A beginner-friendly printmaking workshop where you’ll create a small collection of prints based on issues that matter to you.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, fast, flexible, and portable approaches for building and printing images will be explored as tools for documentation, social commentary, and community-building. The workshop will begin with a discussion of contemporary works that use printmaking as a tool for political and social activism. After a demonstration of simple monoprint, collagraph, and relief techniques, we’ll generate a small collection of prints based on issues that matter to you. All of the techniques learned can be completed indoors or out, without a printing press and using only a small set of easy-to-transport tools.
This workshop is presented by SPF Fort Lauderdale. Funding for this project is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council as well as the following Funds from the Community Foundation of Broward: Fonda and H. Wayne Huizenga, Jr. Family Trust Fund, Gary J. Scotto Fund and Mary and Alex Mackenzie Community Impact Fund.
