Defense of Democracy Presents a Film Festival to Open Minds & Raise Funds
A local showing of the film “1946: The Mistranslation that Shifted Culture” is intended to educate the public and raise funds for Defense of Democracy, a national organization that advocates for an inclusive public education system.
“1946: The Mistranslation that Shifted Culture” is a documentary film that tells the story of researchers who trace the origins of the Christian anti-gay movement to a mistranslation of the Bible in 1946, casting doubt on a biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice.
Attending this showing is an opportunity to engage in Defense of Democracy’s work and contribute to our mission of educating the public on the importance of the public school and library systems in a functioning democracy—and providing training, tools and coordination for strategic volunteer engagement in communities across the country.
