This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn the art of dissecting scripts, enabling actors to make informed, human, and playable choices for their characters.
Why does an actor need script Analysis?
Script Analysis teaches actors hands-on analysis that works for all media. This workshop touches upon and explores a preparation process, understanding of storytelling and how to connect with your cast members. This workshop is a hands on workshop. We read, we analyze what we have read, and chat about ways to perform the scene with your partner.
Actors are often at a loss when told to break down and prepare a script. In our Script Analysis workshop students will understand how to breakdown the scene for their own use.
Students will learn to view any script as a map full of detailed information that assists them in their choice they make for their character that are human and playable and based on an examination of any given script.
Additionally, by reading and breaking down the script, students find actions, objectives, and obstacles that are playable and based on a close, intelligent reading of the text. How does your character and the choices you make as an actor fit into the larger vision of the production? It will enable the student to be in an intelligent conversation with other cast members, rather than creating in a vacuum.
We will take a script and read it aloud, as a group. Break it down and discuss all the ways it could be performed. We will look at:
· Identifying actions, objectives, and obstacles in scenes.
· Exploring character motivations and relationships.
In this 3-hour workshop you should be able to take any script and make it your own with intelligent choices.
