In 2021, Nguyen Viet Trung became the first Vietnamese pianist to qualify for the International Chopin Piano Competition in more than 40 years. Born in 1996, Trung studied in Bydgoszcz, Poland under renowned Polish pianist Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń. Currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Miami in the studio of Kevin Kenner, Trung has won many prizes at piano competitions, including the grand prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Vietnam (2019), third prize at the International Piano Competition in Karlovac, Croatia (2019), and the grand prize and first prize at the All-Poland CEA Auditions (2014). Polish music magazine Twoja Muza once called him \"a music star with undeniable piano talent.\" He makes his CHOPIN for ALL debut with performances in Coral Gables and Fort Lauderdale.
