Calling all artists! PLUNGE Beach Resort is seeking artists to showcase in their Lobby Gallery.

Plunge Into The Arts is presented by Plunge Beach Resort in cooperation with Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District Partners Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, History Fort Lauderdale’s New River Artist Cooperative, and ArtServe.

The goal of the program is to provide a showcase for local artists whose work is unique, fun, thought-provoking, quirky, emotional and edgy as well as to support our local arts community and venues like the Bonnet House, History Fort Lauderdale and ArtServe.

The program features the work of two local artists at any given time. Each artist exhibits their works for 30 days. Works can include watercolor, acrylic, ceramic, photography and more and all displayed pieces are available for sale through the artist directly.

Exhibits are physically installed in the Plunge Lobby Gallery and an open house or closing reception is typically held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month following installation from 6pm to 7:30pm, schedule permitting. The open house or closing reception is hosted by Plunge’s Director of Guest Excellence, Plunge’s In-house Curator and the artist. During the event, attendees have the opportunity to informally meet the featured artist and view his or her works while learning more about the artist’s history, inspiration and the pieces on display.

Parties interested in purchasing any of the works on display are directed to contact the artist. In return for providing the exhibit space and sponsoring the virtual event, Plunge Beach Resort requires a 10% commission for any pieces sold while on display in the Lobby Gallery.

Plunge creates a digital flyer as well as a Facebook Event and an Eventbrite page that both Plunge and the artist use to jointly promote the event and drive registrations / attendance. (Any flyers created by the artist must be approved by Plunge prior to distribution). In addition to social media and email blasts, Plunge shares event information with local arts calendars and event directories. Past featured artists are also invited to the open houses and are strongly encouraged to continue to support the program through attendance.

The artist is encouraged to hold “Open Gallery” hours as well as to provide private tours on request while their work is on display. Complimentary parking is provided for such engagements as well as discounted food and beverages at our Bean & Barnacle Coffee Shop where We Proudly Serve Starbucks located in the main lobby and Backflip Beach Bar and Kitchen with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.

To be considered for the program, artists must submit each of their proposed pieces including dimensions (height x width x depth) that adhere to the size requirements of the Lobby Gallery (see diagram on next page for both "Artist A" and "Artist B" exhibit spaces), and provide images of each for consideration. Artists may also be asked to show their works either in person or via Zoom before being accepted to display at Plunge. As noted above, preference is given to works that are unique, fun, thought-provoking, quirky, emotional and edgy. While we love and appreciate portraits, nature & beach scenes, still-life and similar works, they are typically not selected for exhibition here at Plunge.

Interested artists are encouraged to tour the lobby art gallery prior to submitting their application. Email guestservices@plungebeachresort.com to arrange a convenient time.
