Members of Brazilian Voices performed before the Broward County Commission meeting on February 26th, 2019.

Commissioners take turns selecting music heard in commission chambers before the commission meetings start. Commissioner Steve Geller asked Brazilian Voices to provide the music before this week’s meeting, continuing a series of performances by grantees of the Broward Cultural Division.

Brazilian Voices evolved out of a vocal technique workshop organized by Beatriz Malnic and Loren Oliveira in 2001. Since then, these two musical directors have brought together a cast of devoted women, who volunteer their voices and time promoting and preserving the rich multicultural Brazilian heritage fostering multicultural exchange, music appreciation, and education across Broward County and South Florida. As a non-profit organization, the group relies almost solely on sponsorships and grants, including the County’s 2019 Cultural Investment Program.

Present at the performance were Loren Oliveira – Co-President/Musical Director, Beatriz Malnic – Co-President/Musical Director, Viviane Neves – Treasurer, Daniella Priolli Carvalho, Isabel Escosteguy, Marineide Araújo, Silvana Baars M. Florez and Marize Casaes.
