“Run,” The Finished Mural  by Luis Valle Graces the Robert H. Bamford Sports Complex in the Town of Davie

As daylight savings time approaches and the days get shorter, Miami artist, Luis Valle steps up his efforts to finalize ‘Run,’ his mural commissioned by Broward County’s VisualEYES Project, as part of the county’s centennial celebration.

“Luis found a way to capture the essence of Davie,” says Anita Reid, spokesperson for the Town of Davie.  “The mural salutes the Town’s growth and increasingly diverse communities.”

The design, a 1,000 sq. ft. mural on the side of the Robert H. Bamford Sports Complex on Pine Island Rd., depicts four 20-ft. tall horses, representing the Town’s equestrian heritage, galloping straight off the wall toward the viewer.

The image of the horses in motion symbolizes the equestrian traditions of the town and the progress the Town has made, according to Valle.

The Town’s Open Space and Recreational Activities Committee (OSRAC) provided input and gave their approval for the design on Oct. 21.

Despite some initial rain delays, Valle completed the mural in three weeks, working five – six hours each day.

“I’m honored to be selected for the VisualEyes Project and hope people enjoy the mural,” says Valle.

Now planning ahead for Art Basel and the Red Dot fairs, Valle says bringing the mural to fruition provides a sense of accomplishment.

“I’m happy with the end result,” says Valle.  “The  OSRAC input allowed me to do something in a more realistic style, which I enjoyed.”

The Town of Davie is also happy with the result.

“The mural enhances the Town of Davie by displaying its appreciation of art and its impact on the local community,” says Reid.
