After receiving the official go-ahead from the Town of Davie in October, to paint “Run,” a 1,000 sq. ft. mural on the side of the Robert H. Bamford Sports Complex, Miami muralist, Luis Valle, ran straight to his neighborhood Sherwin Williams paint store.

Valle is excited to begin his project, a mural conveying the equestrian spirit and heritage of Davie, four large galloping horses, headed straight off the wall towards the viewer.

“I was ready to go as soon as I got the OK,” says Valle. “The design was complete, I ordered 20 gallons of paint and arranged for a lift to be delivered to the site.”

The week began with threatening, overcast skies, and two days of rain.

When the clouds parted, Valle ate a power breakfast of a banana and protein shake, packed his pockets with granola bars, and headed up I-95 to begin the project.

The mural is part of Broward County’s VisualEYES Project, celebrating the arts and the County’s 100th birthday.

Valle is shooting a time lapse video of the mural’s progress, which will be available on his website (luisvalleart.com).

High above the ground, Valle is enjoying his solitary time away from the pressures of daily life.

“No one interrupts me up here,” Valle says. “I can get a lot done.”

Approaching Davie, the mural is visible to anyone driving by on Pine Island Rd.

“It makes a huge difference in the neighborhood,” says Valle. “It changes everything.”
