A Nate Dee mural is about more than vibrant colors, flowing shapes and natural themes. It is also filled with symbolism. In the case of his latest mural, “Feathers of Hope,” it is themed around the family and a sense of hope, strength, community, inspiration and peace. The piece is part of VisualEYES and Broward 100.

To find his themes, Dee consulted with community leaders in the area, as well as people who utilized the building which has become the canvas for his newest artwork. Once a blank slate, the 4th floor of the Edward P. Mills Multipurpose Center in Lauderhill is now a vibrant and meaningful mural about 1000 feet in size.

The mural, which took about two months to complete, will be unveiled October 1 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the center, located at 900 NW 31st Avenue. Special invites were sent out for the event and guests needed to R.S.V.P., but the public can see the scene on Periscope at www.Twitter.com/BrowardCounty.
