It’s hard to imagine a South Florida that is not full of the beauty of Brazilian culture. Broward County is fortunate that so many Brazilian natives have chosen to make their home here, imbuing a rich a sense of culture in this place already so abundant with amazing unique experiences. Beatriz Malnic offered listeners at the Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) in Pompano a chance to be moved by Brazilian Bossa Nova and Samba music.

Accompanied by the expert fingers of Mike Orta on piano, and Paul Shewchuk’s low rhythms from his double bass, the three musicians created the perfect jazz trio. Malnic’s smooth and sultry voice wafted over the crowd and delighted the ears of all those in attendance at BaCA. Known best perhaps for her work with the popular Toquinho, Malnic is considered one of the best performers of Samba in South Florida, and she did disappoint this warm September evening with her sweet melodies that had the crowd mesmerized.

The Combination of Jazz and Samba set the stage for an intimate evening of unforgettable music. Malnic’s voice carried off into the night air ensuring that the sound of her inimitable vocals followed all those in attendance out of the BaCA venue, and made certain that they found themselves humming along the whole ride home.
