BEHIND THE COLORS

ARTIST STATEMENT

My name is Nessie Yara. I am a happy mother of two and a South Florida artist. I was formally educated in visual arts (B/W photography and ceramics sculpture). It was not until I had children that my interest in color began. After many years of “life happening,” I finally decided to get out there and recapture the gifts I have been given.

My most recent endeavor involves brushes, canvases, and lots of bright colors. Using acrylics I paint about motherhood, childhood, family, and the little things in between. My brush serves me to illustrate permanence on transitory moments in life. Through my artwork I want to represent the unique footprints relationships leave in our lives.

I was born in San Juan Puerto Rico and have been a Florida resident for the past 20 years. Both of these wonderful places have influenced greatly my color palette which reflects earth elements that surround the tropical life I have been blessed to live in.
