The Studios of Key West was founded with the vision of bringing world class artists to the island, connecting them with local audiences and artists, and offering space for both to explore their creativity. We offer studio space, lectures, workshops, residencies, partnership projects and nurture the creation of work. Our mission is to build audiences and support the advancement of established and emerging creative people in the Florida Keys.

Our purpose is to remind us of our own creativity, empower artists to show us the world in new ways, use the arts to build friendships and establish Key West as a beacon of cultural activity.

The Studios of Key West is located at the former Scottish Rite Masonic Center at the corner of Simonton and Eaton Streets, renovated through generous donations in 2015. Built in 1951, it’s spacious, sturdy and suffused with light – an iconic piece of Miami Deco architecture located in the heart of downtown Key West, just one block from Duval Street.

The facility includes a 200 seat theater, four museum galleries devoted to contemporary art, eight studios for local practicing artists, two dedicated classrooms and a rooftop terrace for outdoor programming.

The PEAR House, home of the Peyton Evans Artist Residencies program, is located just next door and recently underwent a $2M renovation, transforming the historic guest house into a world-class residency space.
