Pine Island Ridge is a Natural Area in the Southwest District of Broward County Parks and Recreation, providing the public with the opportunity to experience many of the native habitats of South Florida including mesic flatwood, Florida scrub, cypress basins, live oak hammock, wetlands, and archaeological sites. These preserves provide refuge to many species of resident wildlife and migrant visitors. There is also “A Walk Through Time” hike offered, providing discussion about natural and cultural history of the area. Topics include geology, Tequesta, Seminole, citrus farming, and native plants.
