“The Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus exists to build community through quality musical performances and civic engagement that promotes a world that accepts and values diversity.” – Mission Statement

We were founded in 1986 as the first gay performing arts organization in Florida.

Fort Lauderdale has always been a rapidly growing community, and we’re growing our reach and our community focus with new venues beyond downtown, such as Pembroke Pines and Lauderhill, reaching out with performances in assisted senior living centers, combining with other Arts organizations, like the Broward Performing Arts Center, to commemorate historical LGBT events like Stonewall Fort Lauderdale Pride, and engaging together with LGBTQ High School youth and their allies.

The Fort Lauderdale and surrounding Broward county community remains increasingly diverse. We promote acceptance of the gifts brought by the “other” and value these differences by celebrating them: Annually, we participate in the Christmas on Las Olas celebration and the Wilton Manors Holiday Tree lighting. We commemorate historic LBGT events such as Stonewall’s 50th Anniversary by collaborating with various other regional arts organizations.

FTLGMC represents our gay Fort Lauderdale musical community and works together with LGBT youth groups
which share our vision of valuing diversity in our community, such as the Broward Performing Arts Center, the Broward Community Foundation, and the South Florida Gay News organi ... view more »
