Tessa Metayer and Nathalie Calvin created Elements of Art in August of 2007. After learning about the atrocities that the children of Northern Uganda were experiencing, they wanted to do something more than send several dollars. They wanted to help Invisible Children in a big way and at the same time, inform and encourage others. Metayer and Calvin decided to create an art exhibition that would benefit Invisible Children after seeing in the documentary the Northern Ugandan children drawing the horrifying experiences they dealt with. Wanting to use more positive art to change the lives of the children, Elements Of Art was created. Seeing the power that art has on individuals, Metayer and Calvin created Elements Of Art not only to help Invisible Children, but other non-profit organizations that are overlooked.
